People ask me frequently- what on earth has made you think that you should pursue an MBA. You have a settled practice, own clinics and good corporate hospitals attachment. Above all the label of Professor and Head of Department is something which not many achieve.
I have only one reply- ye dil mange more!! Since I have all these things with me I crave for more. Any further education is not going to harm me anyway. A chance of interacting with people from different fields does not come often in routine life.
From the day I started filling up my applications for B-schools, I started making several contacts -sometimes seeking help and advice, sometimes interacting about interviews and so-on. This is the magic of B-schools- I could interact with several people from the fraternity and outside it just at the beginning of the admission procedure. Needless to say rejects from some institutions disappointed me but I have few friends in each of these institutions who have got selected and are still in touch with me, thus increasing my friends circle.
Now that I have paid my acceptance fee to XLRI as the first intallment, I am happy. I am a part of one of the topmost institutions in India. This is the oldest institution but never believe in too much of overt advertising. Its name speaks for itself. I am happy intearacting with the prospective colleagues and have a great respect for each one of them as they are the over-achievers of their respective fields and deserve to be the part of the community (senior managers).
Preparations have started in various forms as resigning, reserving seats, selling car, settling loan papers, etc etc. It seems like a new life is beginning. I am eager to plunge in this new world as a student again, the only difference is this time I have much more responsibilities back home than they ever used to be.
